The Bristol to Haiti Rowathlon is taking place at Redwood Lodge Country Club, Failand, Bristol on the 24th April 2010, raising money for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and we would like your help.
On 40 rowing machines, join us and row the distance from Bristol to Port au Prince, Haiti (7010km) in 12hrs.
We want your help not only as donors to the Haiti Relief Fund, but in your participation too. If you want to complete one challenge this year then make it this one. We've set our fundraising goal at £25,000.
Even if you can't (or don't want to) row we still need your help. It's going to be a logistical and administrative headache so help there won't go amiss.
Register your interest and let's help make a difference
Fitness required
A degree of fitness is required, however, based on a team of four, that’s only 15 minutes per hour. Based on the metres required per machine to complete the challenge, this will be achievable by a team with average fitness. Superman and Superwoman not required, although not turned down.
We'll be rowing on Concept 2 rowers, which will be familiar to anyone who’s used a commercial gym. Even if you haven't done any rowing, there are three months to get training and there are training plans with loads of advice available from Concept 2.
